Applying eyeshadow is more tricky than you think! There are so many technical things like creating smoky eyes is a tricky techniques. I will discuss the basics and then explain how to get the smoky eyes that you desire.

Well, perhaps I will just keep the smoky technique for another article. Yes that is what I will do so check back later. The basic part of this session is pretty easy and will typically take you about five minute to do.

Begin by wiping your eyelids with a damp brush and then add some face powder. This will help to keep your eyeshadow from melting. Next, grab three shades of the same color.

Choose a light color, dark color and a color somewhere in between the two. If this technique is not new to you then buy inexpensive eyeshadow to play with. Find some at Target or Walmart while you get these steps down.

Start by applying the lightest shade on the whole lid. Make sure that you are gentle when you are applying your makeup. Apply the shadow from the brow to the lash line in one sweep. Then go ahead and apply the medium color.

The purpose of the medium color is to bring out the color in your eyes. Apply the medium along the lash line right above the crease. The darkest color should be applied to close to your lashes.

So when applying, take your time and do not rush. Many of times I stabbed my eyes by doing this technique too fast. When you become a pro, then you can do it as fast as you please.

I do this everyday! I love to use a touch of gold shadow on my brow bone to make my eyes look even brighter. You can also find this shadow at Target or Walmart. If I were you I would not spend too much money on this tool which I call a highlighter.

You are free to use powder as long as it matches your skin or a thick pencil. You might try a liquid highlighter and find great success with that. I have not tried it out myself, but don't let that stop you.

You might notice that your eye will get this creamy look from using liquid (this is what happens when I use liquid eye liner) . The problem is that it makes the shadow application harder. So be careful when trying different techniques. To see more tips go to http://www.squidoo.com/beautytipsgalore

However,to counteract some these issues you can stay away from bright colors. Softness is what looks the best. The softer the colors and tones the younger you will look.

One last helpful tip is even when using subtle coloring do not layer on the eye shadow too much. If you layer on the eye shadow too much it will look caked on and tacky. I would say in my own experience that one layer of each color works the best. Enjoy and experiment and find what works best for you!
