The rewards of writing articles to promote your affiliate program(s) can indeed be tremendous. But have you ever thought about how the two go together? Probably not. So let's begin with an explanation about what affiliate marketing is.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing is earning a commission when you help sell a product. You can help sell a product by article writing, and this is how it works:
Becoming an affiliate for a particular company is the first step, and there numerous companies out there for you to promote their products or services. One thing you want to look for is a company that'll pay you healthy commissions which could be based upon a certain percentage of your sales, or a flat rate commission. Performance is the key when earning commissions, and they'll be based entirely on your ability to sell.
How To Make Your Article Sell?
Keep these points uppermost in your mind:
Write a content rich article along with a resource box
You're probably familiar with article writing tips. You may even be a good writer already with loads of experience. Here are some basics you need to know about what a resource box is.
What function does the Resource Box serve?
A resource box contains information about the author, and is provided at the end of the article. It's a very important marketing channel, so be sure to make this a mandatory part of your article writing.
Be sure to include the following in your resource box.
Your name: This goes without saying. You don't have to include your title.
Your URL address: Obviously, you want to provide a valid destination web address to send your visitors to. For example, http://www.yourwebsite.com.
A catchy slogan: This is usually a 2 or 3 sentence brief about you, and whatever it is your attempting to sell. Think of it as being a classified ad, where you tell people about your USP (Unique Selling Proposition), and what separates you (or your product) from the competition.
Your call to action: Since most people are lazy and procrastinate, you've must use the kind of power words that'll motivate them to visit your website. You could say something like, "To find out about this product, click here.
Your contact information: Be sure to include a valid e-mail address and/or phone number for interested parties to contact you if they need to. Remember, after your article has been submitted to the various article directories, e-zine publishers and webmasters, it'll be almost impossible to retract anything you've said in the article.
Article Writing Do's and Don'ts:
Don't dilute your website by posting a large number of irrelevant URLs.
Don't let your article writing go on a tangent. Stay focused on the subject or the product. Avoid writing too much about your accomplishments. Nobody really wants to know. Rather focus on the benefits your article can accrue to the reader.
Your resource box should be about one-fifth of your article size.
I hope you can see that writing articles can indeed be an extremely powerful means of increasing both your sales and success in affiliate marketing. Get started now on the path to enhancing your branding image.
