Working from home is very appealing, you can work flexible hours, work it around family life, get a work-life balance so why isn't everyone doing it? It is a sad fact that lots of people have concerns over using the Internet, the main one being ''falling into scam traps''. How can you tell genuine offers from scams? I have 10 years experience of working with the Internet and have learnt how to spot some scams. In this article I share with you some of the different sorts of scams and how do identify them. It is not a foolproof solution but worth making yourself more aware of the traps.
Warning - Home Typing Scams
Fortunately, these scams are becoming less and less but please be warned that they do still exist. Read on to learn how you can work out if it is a fake or not.
Medical Billing Scam
If you are asked to pay for billing software, take this as a warning sign about a scam and surf on.
Craft Assembly
Most of us know that it is cheaper to go into a store and buy a knitted scarf than it is to buy the kit to knit it. Well this works the same way. You buy all the equipment you need and then try to sell the items - you are bidding against items from places such as China and you will end up with a lot of craft items yourself. Worse even is the scam that asks you to send the items back to the supplier for a quality check. As you can imagine, you fail the test and the goods are returned and you are not paid.
How to sniff out a scam
Some measures have been put in place on the Internet to protect you but here are some questions you could ask yourself to sniff out a scam:
Is there a website for the company?
What is the quality of the website?
Is it well explained and is there a lot of information available?
Does it have testimonials with pictures and area address details?
Does it offer video or other training?
MOST IMPORTANTLY - Does it have a money back guarantee and does that guarantee have a nice big black and gold logo that gives the timescale for the guarantee. If the company is paid via Clickbank/PayPal or PayDotCom you will ALWAYS be able to get your money back in 60 days.
On some websites you will see trust logos which come in various shapes, colours and sizes. Go surfing now and see if you can spot any.
Do your research, we have done ours and found a few sites that are not scams.
Also remember - even if it is not a scam, you have to work hard to earn your money, the adverts that say $25,000 in 3 months - I take with a very large pinch of salt and would not touch them with a bargepole.
Please do not be put off by scams. Follow the link at the bottom of the page for details of a site we have worked with and researched thoroughly.
