MOR Vacations, the hottest new travel club on the Internet, has quickly upstaged long time king of the hill Global Resorts Network. Even though MOR Vacation is a new company it is backed by a 23 year old membership company with more than 100,000 active members.
Global Resorts Network has not had any real competition for the past two years. While YTB and Coastal Vacations have always been out there, they have never really been in the same league as Global Resorts who has simply dominated the Travel Club industry since it was introduced in 2007. The reason is pretty simple, most people don't like the hassles of coupons and travel vouchers or having to become a travel agent in order to take advantage of great travel discounts.
But, as is common in the network marketing arena, there seems to be a two year window of opportunity and that window is rapidly being shut by the new upstart MOR Vacations (the M.O.R. stands for Members Only Resorts). But just how is MOR Vacations manage to come into a market dominated by Global Resorts and immediately have such a huge impact?
Financing is the American way and President of M.O.R. Vacations, Jon King, recognized this flaw in Global Resorts Network. Global Resorts has been successful without an in-house financing program largely because it truly has had no competition in the marketplace at it's price point and was, therefore, comfortable not taking the risk of offering financing to it's members. But turning it's back to these consumers may have been a fatal mistake.
Despite the concerns of several top income earners in Global Resorts Network, the company never was willing to provide an in-house financing option. With the average consumer struggling in today's economy, this has drammatically hurt the sales and opportunities for many consumers. Many of whom decided to simply not buy or they looked at more reasonable alternatives like Coastal Vacations or YTB.
Fast forward two years and in steps MOR Vacations. The first thing that MOR Vacations announces is that they will offer in-house financing requiring only a small down payment and easy financing terms open to anyone with at least a 450 credit score. This was the dagger in the heart to Global Resorts and affiliates began a mass exodus from GRN to the fledgling MOR Vacations. Such a large scale switchover has stunned the market, showing just how in tune MOR Vacations President Jon King is with the average consumer.
MOR Vacations didn't stop with just a financing and trade-in program - they also introduced various other enhancements over GRN. For example, they not only reduced the cost of "Hot Weeks" to half of what Global Resorts charges, but they also expanded the top end to appeal to the more discerning traveler who was not satisfied with mere 5 star resorts, but to whom diamond level resorts had more appeal. MOR Vacations also was wise to recognize that $149 and $199 "Hot Weeks" were great, but they needed to be more accessible to the average consumer so they focused their Hot Weeks in the United States.
Different yes, but both are more similar than different - similar number of resorts, similar no fee structure, both offer lifetime memberships and guest weeks (though guest weeks at MOR Vacations are unlimited as opposed to only three weeks with GRN).
Other differences between the two companies include their pricing of their entry level packages. GRN's "Gold" level package is $1500 and is a three year term. MOR Vacations "Emerald" package is priced at only $1298 an is for a surprising five year term.
Which one is right for you - MOR Vacations? Or Global Resorts Network? Not surprisingly they are both excellent options. However, that being said, clearly MOR Vacations offers more features, flexibility and better pricing for the same purchase price.
