One of the most common goals of people in America, especially when it come to weight loss, is to gain six pack abs. Pretty much everyone thinks ripped and shredded abs are sexy, and desirable. Lots of people have different ideas about the perfect body, but one thing that most people agree on is that six pack abs are hot. Despite this, almost all the people who want six pack abs, will never have them. This is usually due to a multitude of reasons, the most common being a lack of resolve. They are unwilling to do the work necessary, too lazy to do the work, or are easily discouraged. The people who set and stick to a routine, are the people who will become successful in their attempts to gain a six pack. Another reason is that people are ill informed about how to get what they want.

Most people would list getting great abs as a very high priority, but they never get them. This is often because of the misinformation that the American public has generally accepted as true for years. It has been the common thought for a long time, that simply doing a ton of crunches or sit ups before you go to sleep will get you great abs in no time. This is not at all the case. In fact doing this can hinder your development of shredded abs, and eventually you may even get hurt. While you most definitely do need to strengthen your abdominal muscles to make them bigger, and doing crunches and sit ups is a great way to accomplish this, there is much more to it than this.

The key to getting a six pack is to eliminate body fat while gaining muscle. Getting the muscle isn't the hard part, getting the muscle to show is. Removing fat is one of the hardest things that a person can try to do, but always keep in mind that with persistence, anything is possible. To get rid of this unwelcome fat, one must do a ton of cardio. Getting your heart pounding for as long as possible is key. You can run, jog, box, jump rope etc to reduce the amount of body fat you have. There are many ways to increase the size of your abs, not just crunches. Weighted crunches are actually much more effective as they allow your abs to pop out faster.

Doing cardio exercises can't be stressed enough. This will produce fat loss all over the body, which is the only type of fat loss possible. There is no such thing as targeted fat loss. This is why it takes so long to get a six pack, because you have to spread the fat loss over your whole body.

One thing to remember is to be persistent. Do not give up after two weeks! Be sure to continue trying and attempt to get into a routine. If you have a routine that you do every day, then it will be easier to get better results as you will stick with it. If you just exercises sporadically, then you will never see any results. With hard work, anything is possible.
