The 1 day, emergency cure for your gout attack;
Take medicine your doctor prescribed for treating your gout attacks. If you don't have prescribed medication for your gout use an over-the-counter NSAID such as Ibuprofen .
Recommended dose of over the counter NSAIDs for treating an unbearable, acute gout attack.
Ibuprofen, take 800 mg 4 times a day
Reduce the dosage as the attack subsides.
See your doctor as soon as possible for a steroid or non-steroidal injection, to quickly reduce the pain.
Remove clothing from the affected area and avoid any pressure on the joint.
Apply an anesthetic spray, gel, cream, or lotion to the gout attack area, to numb the pain.
Avoid using aspirin as it will worsen the attack.
Also avoid alcohol, acidic foods and drinks, fizzy drinks,vitamin C, dehydration,dieting, as they will worsen and prolong the attack.
Consume at least 2 liters of mineral water every day.
Alkalize the body and increase the blood PH level to around 7, do this by mixing half a teaspoon of baking soda to a medium sized glass of mineral water and drink every 4 hours up to a maximum of 4 glasses per day. Baking soda, is the quickest way of alkalizing your body and also accelerates the urinary excretion of excess uric acid. Baking soda is also known to increases the effectiveness of NSAIDs. Avoid using any other forms of salt while using baking soda due to its high sodium content.
Always get your doctor's approval before trying this (ask your doctor in advance, just so you know it will be safe, if you do ever need to use this method).
Gently rub ice over the effected area to reduce swelling and pain.
Rest joint until gout is completely gone, premature use of the affected joint may prolong or bring back the attack.
Find out all you can about your gout condition so you twill be able to prevent and treat future attacks in a sustainable way, use the right approach and you may never have to worry about having another attack. Be prepared, gout usually starts with little or no warning. This quick remedy is designed to address an acute and unforeseen attack and while very effective is not the best way of treating and preventing gout in the long term.
