Whether referred to as Goji berries or Wolfberries, the wonder fruit has made quite an impact on the health market in recent years. The sweet taste and dark red color of the fruit makes it rather unlike may other fruits- and has quite a few astounding benefits for those who consume it. Many of today's Goji berries are coming from the north-western part of China, where the berries can be adequately maintained and developed by those who know the berries best. The berries can be found on market in other parts of the world, although they are not raised in quite the same stature.

Some of the best benefit to come from the Goji berry is the fact that it helps the liver and kidney remain healthy and resistant to negative impacts. Other types of eye diseases are also said to be treated by consumption of the Goji berry. The China people as a whole digest the berry very commonly, claiming that the berry helps one stay healthy and energetic, not to mention young and visually appealing. And as Chinese studies go, there have indeed been some results that would claim that Goji berries do indeed have anti-aging effects for those who consume them. After all, the "super" fruit has a big name to live up to!

The Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity, or ORAC, was created by the United States Department of Agriculture in order to measure the amount of anti-oxidants in any time of consumable items. This scale was used to measure the ORAC content of Goji berries, and it was found that the Goji berry has a score of 3,472- a very high score indeed. The abundance of anti-oxidants will help greatly in the anti-aging process, and keep those who consume it looking young.

The Goji berry has been referred to as a super fruit for years, but the origination of this term can be quite astounding. In fact, highly reputed Time Magazine published an article on the Goji berry in July of 2006, and referred to the Goji berry as "super fruit of the year," and it seems the name has stuck every since. The magazine is one of the leaders in the Goji berry introduction to the Western countries, which have since welcomed the berry in all its glory.

Goji berries have other types of vitamins and minerals, including but not limited to; potassium, iron, zinc, calcium, selenium, riboflavin, and vitamin C. These are very valuable minerals for the human body, and should be consumed on a regular basis.

There are few things in nature that can attest that they help fight cancer. But for the Goji berry, this is something it can do with its natural benefits, minerals, and vitamins. A study in recent years has shown that Goji berries can give cancer victims a greater chance of making use of cancer drugs, in some cases extending the benefit of cancer drugs by over half. Other cases prove that Goji berries can improve the leukemia cell count, meaning the Goji berry has very powerful anti-cancer properties.

There are other side effects of the Goji berry that makes it especially helpful for sexual impotency or lack of energy. Still others use the Goji berry to help against the horrible prospect of being infertile. In either case, the Goji berry can help give many their life back.

Goji Berries can be used in many ways. Like other dried fruits, goji berries can be added to smoothies, nuts and seeds, trail mix, muesli, breakfast cereals, porridge and yoghurt. Or, simply eat by the handful as they are, as a wonderful nutritious and healthy snack! Although they are best eaten in their raw state to maintain potency, they can also be used as an ingredient in cakes, cookies, snack bars etc or made into a delicious tea. We like to soak them in different juices. A 10-30g serving (a small handful) is recommended as a good daily intake, although you can eat as many as you like!
