If you're like most people, you love to pour rich, creamy dressing all over the vegetables in your salad. And while you may think you're eating healthier because you're eating your veggies, the salad dressing may be weighing you down more than you realize.

No doubt salad dressings are very good, anything creamy is usually going to be good. But not when you are trying to eat healthy and lose some calories. There are other dressings that are much healthier

One option is to try salad dressings made with balsamic vinegar. You can make your own at home using one part oil to one part vinegar. You can also add other seasonings for taste, to make it just like you want it

Flaxseed oil and olive oil make tasty alternatives to corn or canola oil. These oils contain necessary fats that can be used by many bodily organs. Flaxseed oil doesn't convert to fat cells so this is another added benefit

Another way to dress up your salad without adding extra fat is to squeeze a little lemon juice on your salad. It gives it a tart sweetness that many dieters enjoy.

You can choose the salad dressings that come in a spray bottle and you can also use vinaigrette dressings to save calories. Stay away from low fat or fat-free versions of your favorite creamy dressings. Many times these are just as bad as the regular version because they are loaded with fat and sugar

Instead of smothering your salad and eating needless calories, you can try dipping your fork into the dressing. This method has saved many needless calories for many dieters.

By dipping your fork into the salad dressing before taking a bite, you will get all the flavor and still save calories. You won't use near as many calories if you eat your salad dressing this way. You will be surprised at how much less dressing you find you need if you try it this way.
