Humans have enjoyed the drink known as wine for thousands of years. Wine has even been found to date back 5,000 years ago in China according to some recent archaeological findings.
Currently, wine racks are offered in an impressive variety of styles. Lots of people now have a strong interest in wine and need a place to store their valuable collections. Wine racks are available in both wood and metal.
With elegant shapes, modern or traditional looks, and interesting placement ideas, metal wine racks can be considered works of art in their own right.
However, if you want to keep the ideal, tradition calls for wine racks to be made from wood. The most effective wood used for wine racking are soft woods like cedar or pine, which people have been using for hundreds of years.
Many people are interested in stackable wine racks; this is one distinct advantage wooden wine racks have over metal ones. As you procure more wine, this allows you to grow your wine collection over time; by placing another stackable unit you buy on top of the one you have already. An additional benefit is the fact that wood is not as conducive to heat as compared to metal.
You should ensure that there is no conduction of heat to the wine bottles placed in the rack where it is stored if you are planning to store the wine for longer duration to enable the aging process to take place. This can affect the taste of the wine in a bad way. What a waste that would be! Particularly if you are storing a handful of bottles for a special event a few years down the road.
Wooden, stackable wine racks are the most traditional type of wine rack.
But, if you are not expecting you will keep your wine for a long period of time, Metal wine racks are what you want, if you want an artistic wine rack that you can display prominently as a conversation piece. Metal wine racks can add a sleek and classy feel to any setting and any decor.
