When you apply principles of decorating and feng shui, be sure to think about this type of first impression. You might want to stand in the doorway and honestly evaluate how you feel. Decide what your impression of the room's atmosphere is, and how you feel immediately upon looking at the room. Decide whether the room and your home as a whole feel inviting, depressing, enlivening or peaceful.

By applying these basic principles of decorating and feng shui, you can begin to experience both the art and science of this ancient practice.
