Anyone that's been around the internet marketing block has heard or has realized that traffic generation is an ongoing affair. This part of the business is definitely not set it and forget it. What some marketers haven't grasped is that traffic generation in and of itself is incomplete. See the traffic generation has to be targeted. You want to expose your website to visitors that will be inclined to act because they want what you have to offer. So how do we corral this soon to be captive audience?

Let's start with three proven methods that have been effective in targeting my traffic and getting them to view my websites. Do these correctly and they won't let you down.

Forum Marketing

This is a proven technique for targeting traffic. It is extremely effective and can work very quickly if you follow the guidelines.

You have to build trust and relationships. You do this by contributing value to the threads (ongoing conversations). Members can then decide if they like and trust you and if they do they will be more inclined to do business with you and visit your website(s). With a few hundred posts, newbies will start to see you as an authority in the forum and they will be more apt to do business with you.

Article Marketing

Yes, while it will take some time and you'll needs lots of articles, this is still a premier method of getting targeted traffic to your website. You'll need a plan and you'll need to stick to it.

Make a list of the long tailed keywords that you'd like to rank for. Fifty should be enough to start. Write an article for each keyword. Rewrite the article a few times because you'll want to submit a unique version to each of the directories that you have selected. The resource box at the end of each article should point to a page deep within your website using the anchor text that you want to rank for. Over time you will see many unique visitors, backlinks from the article directories and you will rank higher in the search engines.

Video Marketing Technique

This one works extremely fast. So be ready for the onslaught of traffic. Record a video no more than 3 minutes, preferably 2 minutes long. If you're camera shy and don't want anyone else in the video, do a powerpoint presentation with audio.

Keep your website URL along the bottom portion of the video as a watermark. Use a domain name that you own and not those awfully long affiliate links. Direct them to your website or do a redirect to your affiliate link if you want your viewers to go straight to the sales page.

Don't know what to record? Heck read a free report that's relevant to your niche... I've heard of a guy who read the sales page of the product he was promoting. Be creative but keep the video short.
