Dave Lakhani is a speaker, author and trainer in the sales and marketing arena. He has been featured in magazines that include "Selling Power", "Sales and Marketing Management", "Entrepreneur", "Business Solutions", "Retail Systems Reseller", "Integrated Solutions", "Home Office Computing", and "PC Magazine".

Aside from magazines, Dave Lakhani wrote the number one bestselling book "Persuasion - The Art of Getting What You Want". He has also been seen on radio and television programs like "The Today Show". Dave is a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and he has studied people like Jay Abraham and Zig Ziglar who are leaders in the sales and marketing industry.

Dave's training techniques have been used to boost some very big names including IBM, the U.S. Army, Rogers Media, Micron, GE and Wizard Academy. He didn't start in marketing, though. In fact, Dave Lakhani was raised in a cult called the Branhamites, and has since left to do a lot of different types of jobs.

Shortly after leaving the cult, Dave Lakhani was a cowboy and then a professional fighter. Later in the 80's, he took a law enforcement position as an undercover drug cop. None of those jobs satisfied him. It wasn't until he started helping people become persuasive that he discovered his true passion.

After discovering his passion, Dave also discovered something that many people have discovered: work isn't work, and money grows on trees. When he left the cult, Dave spent his days at the Andrew Carnegie Library trying to understand what made people like his mother choose to raise their children in a cult. What he learned, however, was the art of persuasion and how it can be applied to business.

Dave Lakhani's definition of persuasion goes something like "helping people come to their own most logical conclusion, which also happens to be one you share". Persuasion isn't negative like manipulation or coercion are. With persuasion, you're simply helping people make a decision by drawing a conclusion from information presented. Manipulation on the other hand, is lying, misdirecting, or purposely confusing someone.

Manipulation isn't necessary when you find a passion you truly love. The passion becomes something infectious. People see what your goals are, and your enthusiasm builds rapport. They rest assured that you have their best interest at heart because they see the fire burning within you.

Persuasion is used each day by each and every one of us. Whether you're persuading your best girl to marry you, persuading your spouse that it's time to add children to the family, or persuading someone to buy a used car from you, it's an important skill to master if you want to find great success. Get what you want in life through honestly persuading people!
