It is not uncommon for many people to drink alcohol occasionally. Still there are those how drink moderate amounts of alcohol more frequently than that. Even knowing a habit is bad for us more often than not is not enough to motivate us to stop it.

Maybe you know that even moderate drinking, under certain circumstances, is not risk free. But about 1 in 3 men, and about 1 in 7 women, drink more than the safe limit. And that if you drink at more than moderate levels, you may be putting yourself at risk for serious problems. Quit your habit of drinking alcohol at once!

There are many benefits to be gained be quitting drinking. Let's look at just a few:

It decreases your risk of developing diseases such as cirrhosis, damage to the pancreas, heart problems, certain cancers, sexual problems, and other conditions. You can be a self made millionaire. Maybe the million is a stretch, but imagine the money you can save that will not go towards drinking. Save up to reward yourself for your accomplishments. Once you are alcohol free take that vacation you've always wanted or spurge with that special something you've been wanting.

You literally gain a new taste for things. Your appetite will return and with it, your muscle tone and health. You will drop off the extra pounds be eliminating all of the fat that alcohol contains.

Alcohol can steal about one full month a year from your life. That is quite a bit of lost time that could have been spent on many more important things in life.

Another benefit of quitting drinking is the ability to say that you did it. Alcohol is a hard battle to overcome but you can say that you have won through the power of self-control. What is better than saying it is that self satisfaction that you will gain in knowing that you and not alcohol has control of your life.

There just some things to be proud of. Giving up alcohol is a mark of respect and regret to all those that have lost their lives to heart disease, alcohol poisoning, liver cancer and teenagers that drink and suffer death from over drinking. The fact that you survived your addiction and came through the other side is an achievement many have not been able to do.

You will want to get out of bed every day. You will find yourself being an early riser. Alcohol makes you feel tired and sluggish even when you want to be energetic and awake. Alcohol disrupts your life in so many ways, even your sleep, but once you quit you can get up early and fulfill the plans you make. Knowing that you can get up and face a world free from the effects of a hangover is energizing in itself.
