Economical living does not have to be about a life of Self Denial. The Prudent life is one of economical shopping, smart choices, and a saving mentality. Making some adjustments in five places of your everyday life will aid you become a thrifty person.

The place that all of us frequent the most is the nearby superstore. And more often than not we have a guilt feeling by the time we reach back home after a round of grocery shopping. That is because along with all the grocery items that we needed, we also bought a lot of items on impulse, something that was discounted way beyond its retail price, and more often than not, absolutely useless. The best way to avoid these useless items is by carrying a list of what all you need. Another good idea will be to tag along a friend when going to the superstore. Swap your shopping lists to eliminate the unnecessary items from entering into your shopping carts.

Being thrifty does not mean that you become a couch potato and just laze around in front of a TV set all day long to save money that would be spent on an outdoor vacation. Be smart and do some running around to find out when is the off peak season for the destination of your choice.

It is only during the off-peak season that you get the maximum discounts on the local attractions as well as on the hotel rents. It is also a good idea to go and see your relatives on a holiday. It always feels nice to get together with your loved ones and it also saves you the hotel rent.

We are all so conscious about what we wear and often just spend more than we can afford to look like someone else. Just because you saw a friend of yours wearing a designer label does not mean that you too buy one. It is very much possible that it was bought from a thrift store or a used clothes store where even the designer labels are available for almost peanuts as compared with the original price.

Another item that we drool over is a car. But it is absolutely not advisable to buy a car on credit because you should drive what you have till you manage to save enough cash to buy new piece cash down. Having cash in the pocket ensures that you can bargain more and therefore get a better deal. And if you so desperately need a new car, then why don't you buy a used car from the used car dealers? After all, most of them also give some kind of a guarantee or warranty.

Being a little stingy in money matters is often helpful in life. You will always have enough money in the bank and all your bills will be paid on time. By being a little prudent, you can save quite a lot of dollars and therefore fulfill your dreams at a later stage in life without having to worry about anybody snatching them from you. What else do you need, but a happy and free of tension life?
