Rottweiler grooming is a very important issue to be aware of. Of course if you have any type of dog you want to make sure that you love and care for them as much as you can, and in particular this means grooming. All dogs require proper grooming, and the way they should be groomed will depend largely on their breed. The Rottweiler, for instance, is an average shedder with a somewhat coarse coat of medium length.
There are a few things that should be done frequently and others that only need to be done now and again when it comes to your Rottweiler. Once a week you should spend about fifteen minutes giving your dog a thorough grooming session.
This includes handling his paws and body. You should look in their ears for dirt, parasites and irritation, and lift their lips to look at their teeth and gums. Feel their coat and check and massage their skin, feeling for bumps as you move your hands over their hips, legs, chest and head.
There are a few tools that you are going to want to have on hand for the grooming of your dog. This includes a natural bristle brush, rubber brush, blending shears and scissors. Their whiskers can be removed easily with scissors, and once you have bathed your dog all you really need to do is apply a light spray of coat conditioner or coat gloss, as this will help to add a beautiful touch and shine to their coat.
Remember that with the Rottweiler breed in particular, it is very important to begin the grooming routines as early on in their life as possible. This is largely due to the fact that they tend to become very large and powerful and so if you just start trying to groom them out of nowhere you may have some difficulties. Also, when it comes to choosing a shampoo to use on their coat you should never use any sort of a medicated shampoo unless, of course, you are instructed to do so by your veterinarian.
In general, Rottweilers require very little maintenance, especially when compared to other breeds of dogs. There are however, still many things that need to be done in terms of grooming your Rottweiler in order to ensure that they feel and look as good as possible. It is important that you start grooming your dog when it is a puppy, as this way it will become accustomed and comfortable with bathing, and will actually enjoy it in the future.
They will be able to show you the ropes and give you great tips and tricks such as to hold the toothbrush at a forty-five degree angle when brushing your dog's teeth so that you get both the upper and lower teeth as clean as possible.
Starting when your dog is a puppy is the absolute best idea because it will then become a part of their regular routine. Not only is this important for aesthetic reasons but also for the general health and wellbeing of the dog.
