Ancient astrology handed down to the present day in many ways seems illogical, but there are those in the modern filed of science who are beginning to rethink their bias and now seem to be leaning toward a belief based upon concrete facts.

The ancient Egyptians viewed the king as a kind of god who was a mediator for all the gods. According to Proctor, the pharaoh was their representative in their relations with the world of spiritual powers and the cosmos itself.

The people of that day, because of their superstitious inclinations, believed that what was good for the king was good for all the people. And as Proctor notes, they mad no move in either domestic or foreign policy unless the astrologer priest recommended the decision by discerning the movement of the stars.

The book, "The Scientific Basis for Astrology, by Michel Gauquelin, points out some of the effects of the motions of the sun and moon upon the earth's cycles. He deals with not only the effects as the seasons, and the growth of vegetation, but interestingly the powerful effects of sunspots during an eleven year cycle.

As sunspots occur on the face of the sun from time to time they develop, and then disappear. Accordingly, as they do, the sun spews up enormous clouds of gas, of incandescent light which then whips up whirlwinds, magnetic in nature.

According to Gauquelin, the sun rotates on it's axis every twenty-seven days, and as it does it aims these spots and eruptions at the earth. Gauquelin, points out " it is like we terrestrials can regard ourselves as living in the sun," as the increased projections and particles bombard the planet.

Sunspot activity seems to affect everything. Perhaps the alarm over global warming has nothing to do with humans whatsoever, but can be attributed to sun spots. Sun spot activity can be related to the number of icebergs in the ocean, the level of water in the lakes, even the quality of wines.
