They Antique and vintage fishing lure collectors are proud with the historical value that is related to their collections. In has started a long time ago. Also there is practically no boundaries. Regardless of age, sex, race, geography anyone can relate to fishing. That's why comparing to other collectors, e.g. coin, stamps, sports etc. fishing lures has more historical value added to it.

Out of all the Antique fishing lures, there are three major types that passed the test of time. These three lure types are Shakespeare lure, Creek Chub lure and Heddon lure. There is great history and stories related to each of them. It will be fascinating to know about them.

Shakespeare Lures- Among all the vintage fishing lures Shakespeare lure has some distinctive features. It can be identified by its props. Shakespeare lures also have a hole in them which is kind of see through. A unique feature. The first ones came out in early 1900. The props were triangular shape. Hooks on the belly which floats. Later model, around 1910, came out with low forehead and much rounded props. The model changed to much rounder and plain props.

Heddon Lures-One of the most attention grabbing antique lures is Heddon fishing lure. It came out first in the late eighteen hundreds, several decades before Shakespeare lures. It is very popular, even today. That is why it is still manufactured in different designs and types. One has to have patience to use this lure. It create perfect strikes on the water surface. Most popular designs are dual prop and diving lip.

Creek Chub lures-One has to mention about Creek Chub lures because of the history behind it. This invention changes everything in the industry. It was a phenomenal idea to begin with. That's why Creek Club went for a patent to pretect their idea. But they could not save the day. For the lack of resources they had to look out for alternative. In the end they gave up part of their best asset, the patent, to Heddon. In return they got the benefits they wanted.
