There is something very addictive about the sport of golf. Very few people stop playing once they have caught the golfing bug. Not everyone enjoys the exercise from walking around the golf course and so the golf cart was invented.

A golf cart is a simple vehicle powered most often by a gas engine or by an electric motor powered by batteries. Usually a four wheeled vehicle they have to be able to drive around a golf course without causing damage to the fairway or greens.

The most simple of the two types is probably the electric golf cart. It has very few moving parts and is quiet and easy to drive. Electric golf carts are quiet due to the electric motor and cause little noise or disturbance to other players.

The gas golf cart is more like a small car with a low powered gas engine which is generally fairly quiet and economical. Gas powered golf carts do require a little more maintenance that electric carts but with a simple top up of the gas they can run for hours whereas an electric cart might run out of battery power after a few hours use.

You can go out and buy a new golf cart if you have a few thousand dollars spare or you could pick up a secondhand used golf cart for a much more reasonable sum of money. Since golf carts don't do thousands of miles like a car they do tend to last a long time and if you get a used golf cart checked over before you buy it, you should get a dependable vehicle.

Check that it has not been subject to excessive wear and tear and that it has been maintained in the correct way at regular intervals. A properly maintained gas or electric golf cart should have plenty of years life left in it and can be purchased for a very reasonable price.
