Gynecomastia is a medical condition of enlarged breasts in a male body. Though the disease is not painful, it makes the abnormally enlarged breasts tender and sore. Sometimes there is secretion of milk from the breasts as well and sometimes one breast is more enlarged than the other one. Gynecomastia is mostly caused by the presence of estrogen hormone which can get transmitted to the male body from the mother.

This is a male disease that can affect man at any age though it is more prevalent in adolescents and elderly males. There are various reasons for getting affected by Gynecomastia, such as obesity, intemperate drug use, steroid use or genetic disorders. However, the main reason behind Gynecomastia remains the imbalance of hormones in the male body.

Gynecomastia is caused by the excess production of estrogen hormone and relatively scant production of testosterone hormone which is essential for every male body. Sometimes a chronic illness, like kidney disease or liver disease may cause Gynecomastia. And, often the medication taken for the disease can cause the disease. The medicines that are known to have caused man boobs include cimetidine, spironolactone, omeprazole, finasteride.

Medicines given for the treatment of prostate cancer can also cause Gynecomastia. Intake of drugs like marijuana can cause enlargement of male breast. Some of these medicines react directly on the breast tissue, while others increase the secretion of prolactin from the pituitary gland which blocks the function of dopamine.

A genetic disorder called the Klinefelter's syndrome is also known to have caused enlargement of male breasts. A Gynecomastia patient suffers from pain and tenderness in and around his breast and nipples.

There are various ways of treating Gynecomastia. They include chest fat burner exercises and gynecomastia supplements. But the most preferred and successful way of treating this disease is by surgery. Cosmetic surgeries can be done to reduce enlarged breasts. Liposuction is one of the best methods of removing fat from the breast area while reducing the size. Another way of surgical cure is mammoplasty. This surgery removes the breast tissue reducing the size of the breast. But before going in for any kind of surgery, one must consult a very good plastic surgeon who will decide the best procedure.

Another way of treating Gynecomastia is exercise. Exercise is a real chest fat burner. A good lot of exercise has helped many to reduce their chest fat. The main thing about the exercise is about losing weight. Losing weight will help reduce the fatty tissues in the male breast. Along with the chest fat burner exercise one must have a controlled diet with a healthy nutrition. Diet which is absolutely fat free is recommended. The patient may consult a doctor for taking the proper diet regime and exercise. Chest fat burner exercise and controlled diet has proved to be a very good option for the treatment of Gynecomastia.

Other than these there are some herbal treatments available which prescribe turmeric root to be a good cure for Gynecomastia. A 20 gram turmeric root must be taken every day for one month to cure the disease. People may take up gynecomastia supplements and medicines for balancing their hormone level. The medicines help to raise the secretion of testosterone hormone while decreasing the estrogen level.
