There are many debates in the Philippines about making divorce legal in the country. Today, divorce is legal in almost every country except for Malta and the Philippines. However, the implications of such break up should be given enough considerations. The family is the basic unit of society. Recent researches have pointed to a variety of long-term social, physical and mental health consequences not only to the couple but likewise to the other members of the household, especially the children.
