It's kind of funny at what speed some technology areas are rapidly just zooming past us. It's not unusual that a handheld pc is considered old after six months and being replaced by some other more powerful and feature rich model.

If you consider how far technology has come for iPAQ Pocket PCs, then you will be even more amazed. At the time it was the newest, hottest gadget to own, yet by today's standards it is so archaic that you can only use it for a paper weight.

The HP200Lx with its QWERTY keyboard was an important step in the PDA evolution. Now many people could recognise the layout from a standard pc, which made it much easier for users of the device.

But where does that bring in the Compaq iPAQ Pocket PCs that were so prevalent on the market? Well, you may not realize it, but Compaq was taken over by Hewlett Packard and so the Compaq iPAQ pocket pc became the HP versions with new technology. How new? In February of 2007, HP announced its new HP iPAQ Pocket PC H5550 series line of Smartphones. These Smartphones are a combination of cellular technology and pocket PCs.

The newest iPAQ Pocket PCs that were produced by Compaq are now manufactured by Hewlett Packard. What does all of this mean? It actually will not have a huge impact on your life. The previous lines of Compaq are still in existence, even if they are completely underpowered by today's standard. In fact, as of February 2007, the new HP iPAQ Pocket PC H5550 series of Smartphones were unveiled, which combined a mixture of cellular technology with that of Pocket PCs.

Technology can be confusing sometimes and it's not necessary to understand all of the technical jargon. Just make sure you find the on that fits your needs.

Yes, it is extremely frustrating to buy the latest model of iPAQ Pocket PCs only to find them outdated within a year. Unfortunately, this is how technology works. If the newest models do not meet your needs, then you can always turn to other manufacturers. Other manufacturers are Blackberry, Microsoft and PalmOS. You will still be dealing with technology that is constantly evolving, but perhaps you can find something a little more suitable with your lifestyle.
