Real time vehicle tracking is the pinnacle of civilian vehicle tracking systems. With real time vehicle tracking, information from the transmitter is sent to the receiver by the second, allowing the user to view vehicle movement as it happens and without delay.
Global Positioning System or GPS is often used in vehicle tracking. It utilizes a constellation of at least 24 satellites orbiting the earth that give off precise microwave signals. The GPS receiver accurately determines the location, speed, direction, and time of an object by using multiple satellites.
Many people believe that a GPS transmitter should have a clear line of sight with the sky to get an acceptable connection and maintain communication with the satellites. However, it is now possible to establish the necessary connection despite a hazy line of sight. This is what makes the GPS satellite system very attractive as a navigating tool, especially for vehicles. GPS can still track your vehicle even if you get trapped in a jungle, or pass through a tunnel.
Another important benefit a GPS has over navigational systems that use low frequencies, is its affiliation with the government. The GPS satellites are entirely maintained by the government. With the government at the helm, the technology is constantly updated without sacrificing any taxpayer money.
GPS vehicle tracking system providers often provide their clients with different options regarding the quality of vehicle tracking services they wish to subscribe to. For example, one client may wish to avail of a service wherein the server refreshes its data every after 10 seconds. On the other hand, another client may wish to subscribe to a real time vehicle tracking service, where the server refreshes in real time with the vehicle being tracked. Of course the latter service comes at a greater fee, but the quality as well as precision of service is far superior over the former option.
