You can do research or hire a financial planner to help you decide on a savings portfolio. What is important here is to recognize that saving is a very important part of a good budget. There are savings vehicles that will give you much more that the small percentage amount offered by traditional accounts at banks. Free budget forms can be acquired off the internet, which will guide you in laying out your budget.
Plan your budget yourself, or hire a financial planner to help you with it. Once it is done, do whatever is necessary to stick to it and meet you short and long term goals.
